About The Position

Elkhart Meadows provides a free Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training program for people interested in a career providing compassionate care to residents. No previous experience is required. Training lasts two weeks and includes 30 hours of classroom instruction and 45 hours of hands-on clinical training, supported by ASC instructors, nurses, and CNAs. The class starts November 16th; no year is specified. After completing the training program and testing, participants may apply for CNA positions at American Senior Communities’ Indiana locations. The program also offers pathways for advancing a nursing career, including tuition and certification reimbursement, college and university partnerships, paid training, and career development.

Requirements

No previous experience is required.

Complete the two-week nurse aide training program, consisting of 30 classroom hours and 45 hours of hands-on clinical training, and complete testing.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, hair care, tooth brushing, and shaving.
Help residents at mealtimes, including transporting them to the dining room and assisting with eating and drinking.
Reposition and transfer residents between beds, wheelchairs, and toilets.
Obtain and record resident vital signs, such as heart rate and blood pressure, and other observations.
Answer patient call lights and assist with requests.
Build meaningful relationships with residents and provide companionship.
