About The Position

Greenlife Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) specializing in Dementia Unit care for a skilled care facility in Queens, New York. This contract position requires a compassionate and experienced CNA with demonstrated experience caring for residents with dementia and/or significant cognitive impairment in a nursing home or hospital setting. The role involves providing direct patient care, monitoring residents' conditions, implementing dementia-specific care techniques, and maintaining accurate documentation.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Nursing Assistant training program.
  • Active New York State Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in a nursing home or hospital setting.
  • Demonstrated experience caring for residents with dementia and/or significant cognitive impairment.
  • Basic understanding of patient care protocols, safety standards, and dementia-specific care techniques in a skilled care environment.
  • Immunity to Hep B.
  • Flexible schedule.
  • Availability to work every other Saturday and Sunday.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding, specifically tailored to residents with dementia.
  • Monitor and report changes in residents' conditions, including vital signs, behavior, and overall well-being, to the nursing team.
  • Ensure resident safety and comfort during evening shifts, responding promptly to call lights and resident needs.
  • Implement dementia-specific care techniques to reduce agitation, promote engagement, and maintain a calm and supportive environment.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided in accordance with facility policies and regulatory standards.
  • Assist with mobility, transfers, and positioning to prevent injury and promote resident independence.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe environment for residents and staff.
