About The Position

Greenlife Healthcare Staffing is currently seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) specializing in Dementia Unit care to fill openings with a skilled care facility located in Queens, New York. This contract position is ideal for a compassionate and experienced CNA with demonstrated experience caring for residents with dementia and/or significant cognitive impairment in a nursing home or hospital setting. This role involves providing direct patient care, monitoring residents' conditions, ensuring safety and comfort, implementing dementia-specific care techniques, maintaining documentation, assisting with mobility, and adhering to infection control protocols.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Nursing Assistant training program.
  • Must have an active New York State Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
  • Must have at least one (1) year of experience in a nursing home or hospital setting.
  • Must have demonstrated experience caring for residents with dementia and/or significant cognitive impairment.
  • Basic understanding of patient care protocols, safety standards, and dementia-specific care techniques in a skilled care environment.
  • Must be immune to Hep B

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding, specifically tailored to residents with dementia.
  • Monitor and report changes in residents' conditions, including vital signs, behavior, and overall well-being, to the nursing team.
  • Ensure resident safety and comfort during evening shifts, responding promptly to call lights and resident needs.
  • Implement dementia-specific care techniques to reduce agitation, promote engagement, and maintain a calm and supportive environment.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided in accordance with facility policies and regulatory standards.
  • Assist with mobility, transfers, and positioning to prevent injury and promote resident independence.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe environment for residents and staff.
