About The Position

Dexter Health Care, a 53-bed full-service Long-Term Care and Skilled Nursing Facility, is hiring a CNA Med-Tech to provide care and services that support residents’ physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse and reporting to the Charge Nurse, the CNA Med-Tech administers medications, monitors residents, maintains accurate records, and keeps equipment clean. Opportunities are available for candidates at all experience levels, including new graduates.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Graduate of a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program.
Active status on the Maine CNA Registry.
Successful completion of a state-approved Nursing Assistant-Medication training program.
Ability to interact with a computer-based Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.

Responsibilities

Administer routinely scheduled oral and topical medications to assigned residents according to physician orders and facility scanning policy.
Monitor and record vital signs according to physician orders and standards of practice.
Document medications and treatments accurately according to policy and best practices.
Immediately report unusual or unwanted medication side effects, outdated medications, and projected medication shortages to the Charge Nurse.
Assist the Charge Nurse with returning, reordering, and destroying medications according to facility policy.
Suggest ways to resolve problems or streamline the medication system.
Maintain clean equipment and report observations to support resident health.
