The Certified Nursing Assistant/HUC for PACU position at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital is a part-time role, requiring 24 hours per week, typically 3 days a week with 8-hour shifts starting at 10 am, with flexibility based on unit needs. The role includes shared weekend call responsibilities. This position assists Registered Nurses with the daily care of patients, including personal hygiene, feeding, activity orders, ambulation, and proper positioning. It involves measuring and documenting vital signs, intake/output, and other patient data accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The role also supports patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensures patient safety by managing call lights and performing purposeful rounding, and assists with nutritional needs and maintaining skin integrity. Additionally, the Certified Nursing Assistant/HUC collects specimens, performs point-of-care testing, and may perform tasks like IV removal and post-mortem care under RN direction, adhering to infection prevention policies. The HUC component involves coordinating tests and treatments between departments, maintaining knowledge of EHR and other computer systems for ordering supplies, processing patient charges, facilitating communications, screening calls, monitoring office equipment, and compiling patient chart forms. The incumbent is expected to establish and maintain positive customer relations and contribute to a harmonious work environment, demonstrating knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of the patients served.
