The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Med/Surg Onc FT position at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, within the Med Surg: IU 42 Oncology department, is a full-time role requiring 36 hours per week. This role involves assisting Registered Nurses (RNs) with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and ambulation. The CNA will also be responsible for measuring and documenting vital signs and patient data in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), performing purposeful rounding, and participating in patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes. Additionally, the role includes specimen collection, specimen labeling, point-of-care testing, completing errands, maintaining stock, cleaning equipment, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties. The CNA will also assist with nutritional needs, skin integrity, and may be required to perform tasks such as removing IVs, providing post mortem care, and bladder scans under RN direction. Adherence to infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and aseptic procedures, is crucial. The position requires the ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, understanding principles of growth and development.
