About The Position

This position is responsible for caring for the residents under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), LPN/LVN, or Director of Health & Wellness. The role involves taking and recording vital signs, measuring and recording fluid intake/output, recognizing and reporting abnormal changes in body functioning, assisting with medication reminders, bathing, grooming, dressing, escort service, and other activities of daily living. The CNA will also transfer, position, and turn residents, provide skin care, contribute to resident assessments and care plans, provide nursing rehabilitation/restorative nursing services, and follow the schedule of resident’s needs. Additionally, the position requires providing emotional and social support to residents, promoting and protecting resident rights, assisting residents in making informed decisions, treating residents with dignity and respect, protecting resident’s personal belongings, reporting suspected abuse or neglect, avoiding the need for physical restraints, and supporting independent expression, choice, and decision-making. The CNA must inform their supervisor of any resident issues or concerns, and respect and encourage the independence and dignity of residents, as well as their confidentiality.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or General Education Degree; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1+ years of Clinical/Nursing experience
  • CNA licensure depending on state requirements and regulations
  • Acceptable proficiency in English to perform job duties, communicate with supervisor and other employees, and respond and communicate to emergency situations.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and handle multiple tasks safely and effectively.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Take and record vital signs.
  • Measure and record height, weight, and fluid intake/output.
  • Recognize abnormal changes in body functioning and importance of reporting such changes to a supervisor.
  • Assist as needed with medication reminders, bathing, grooming, dressing, escort service, and other activities of daily living.
  • Transfer, position, and turn residents.
  • Provide skin care to residents.
  • Contribute to the resident’s assessment and the plan of care.
  • Provide nursing rehabilitation/restorative nursing services.
  • Follow the schedule of resident’s needs set out by supervisor.
  • Provide emotional and social support to residents.
  • Promote and protect resident rights, assist residents in making informed decisions, treat residents with dignity and respect, protect resident’s personal belongings, report suspected abuse or neglect, avoid the need for physical restraints in accordance with the current professional standards, and support independent expression, choice, and decision-making consistent with applicable law and regulation.
