About The Position

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is seeking a Certified Nurse Practitioner to join their mobile health unit team, primarily serving Washington County and Bristol City. This role involves providing direct patient care on a mobile unit, expanding access to essential medical care for diverse populations. The position is restricted and funded by the Opioid Abatement Authority for a 1-year period ending 6/30/2027, with continued employment contingent on funding availability.

Requirements

• Current licensure as a Certified Nurse Practitioner in accordance with Virginia state regulations.
• Knowledge of clinical medicine and clinical skills in pediatrics, family planning, gynecological services, STI and adult health services.
• Knowledge of nursing, physical examination techniques and findings, both normal and pathological, disease states, diagnostic testing and limits of testing, and pharmacology.
• Skills in interviewing, counseling, effective written and verbal communication.
• Ability to perform and interpret physical assessments, obtain medical history, perform and/or interpret diagnostic testing, formulate differential diagnoses and plan of care and provide health education to clients.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to problem solve.
• Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
