About The Position

North Shore Associates in Gynecology and Obstetrics is seeking an additional full-time Certified Nurse Midwife, ideally at 1.0 FTE, to join a growing group of six certified nurse midwives. The practice sees patients at offices in Wilmette and Glenview and attends births at North Shore Hospital in Evanston, which has a supportive hospital environment and a midwifery presence of more than thirty years. The practice advocates for physiological birth for low- and high-risk patients, with a focus on VBAC and unmedicated birth, and works collaboratively with physician colleagues. The ideal candidate is passionate about advocating for patients and providing empathy, compassion, and physical labor support in both the office and labor-and-delivery settings. For a full-time 1.0 FTE position, the schedule includes 17–21 hours of office visits weekly, a rotating four-hour Saturday office shift every sixth week, approximately five to six 24-hour call shifts per month (7 a.m.–7 a.m.), with an overall equal share based on FTE, and monthly team meetings. The role provides full-scope midwifery care, including gynecological, contraceptive, prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, and primary healthcare. The midwife assesses patients, performs examinations and procedures within clinical privileges, orders and interprets tests, prescribes medication, coordinates inpatient care and discharge planning, arranges follow-up, modifies care plans as needed, and consults with other specialties and disciplines to meet patients’ healthcare needs.
