Plumas District Hospital (PDH) is hiring a full-time Certified Nurse Midwife to practice within “The Plumas Model,” a 10-year pilot program enabled by California Senate Bill 669. The model integrates three care settings: a rural health clinic providing outpatient prenatal, postpartum, and family planning services; a freestanding birth center focused on midwifery-led, physiologic, relationship-based birth; and a hospital-based Standby Perinatal Service (SPS) providing rapid-response obstetric and neonatal stabilization for birth center transfers and emergency department presentations. The role provides clinical variety and continuity of care, with independent midwifery practice and collaborative partnerships for high-acuity situations. The CNM works across the birth center, rural health clinic, and hospital standby perinatal services in Quincy and Greenville, and supports a mobile clinic. The position is full-time, benefited, and salaried. The schedule combines three clinic days from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with an on-call rotation shared with a second team. The posting anticipates four to five birth-center births per month. Compensation is $67.71–$96.54 per hour ($140,836.80–$200,799.60 annually). Starting pay is determined by clinical pay scales with 13 steps recognizing up to 30 years of relevant experience. Eligible employees may also receive shift differentials and holiday pay. The CNM provides care across the full continuum of midwifery services, assesses eligibility for birth-center care, supports physiologic birth, and responds to SPS activations. The role also includes emergency readiness activities, coordination with physicians and hospital teams, continuing education, competency validation, and quality improvement.
