About The Position

Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital is seeking a full-time Certified Nurse Midwife for a blend of inpatient and outpatient work, mostly outpatient, on days. Call and weekend work are required. The role assists women throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care, working with considerable independence under the general medical direction of an Obstetrician/Gynecologist. Work follows physician-approved protocols and is evaluated through chart review, consultations, and observation of results.

Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital is a designated critical access hospital serving residents of Crawford, Franklin, and Washington counties. Its services include emergency care, a childbirth center, critical care, surgery, cardiac rehabilitation, cancer care, rural health clinics, therapy and rehabilitation, and wound care. The Sullivan medical clinic is a well-established, multidisciplinary physician group providing family, internal, and obstetric care.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Nursing.
• 2–5 years of experience.
• Advanced Practice RN certification/licensure.
• Work independently under the general medical direction of an Obstetrician/Gynecologist and follow physician-approved protocols.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, counsel, and educate patients to promote healthy living and provide education about medications, treatments, anticipated outcomes, and referrals.
• Conduct examinations and take detailed medical histories to identify and assess clinical and health care needs and develop individual programs of care.
• Identify high-risk pregnancies and make referrals to doctors and other medical specialists as appropriate.
• Supervise and assist mothers in labor, monitor fetal condition, and apply knowledge of drugs and pain management.
• Offer support and advice following birth or events such as miscarriage, termination, stillbirth, neonatal abnormality, and neonatal death.
