About The Position

The University of Colorado College of Nursing is seeking a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) or a Certified Midwife (CM) for a full time (1.0 FTE) benefited position with its Center for Midwifery (CFM) faculty practice in Aurora, CO (on the Anschutz Medical Campus). This position is clinically based as a health care provider, and includes an instructor level, clinical practice track appointment within the College of Nursing and is full scope including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, well woman and gynecological care. Requirements

  • Must be willing and able to obtain current AMCB certification by date of hire.
  • Must be willing and able to provide full scope contraceptive services and counseling on abortion services.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain Colorado RN, APN, RxN licenses or applicable certified midwife professional license by date of hire.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain current board certification as a midwife by date of hire
  • Must be willing and able to obtain current DEA license within 90 days of hire.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain valid NPI number by date of hire
  • Must be willing and able to obtain valid Colorado Medicaid Provider number by date of hire
  • Must be willing and able to complete CAQH and all credentialing requirements prior to by date of hire.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain current BLS/CPR certification by date of hire.
  • Must be willing and able to actively participate in health plan contracts.
  • Must be willing and able to remain credentialed by the health plans and ensure credentialing materials stay current.
  • Must be willing and able to work in a normal patient care environment with some exposure to biological hazards and infectious diseases.
  • Must be willing and able to work extra shifts if and when necessary to cover practice needs
  • Master’s degree in midwifery from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Current AMCB certification.
  • Current RN, APN and RxN licensures in good standing (Any State) or applicable certified midwife professional license.
  • At least two years of experience as a Certified Nurse Midwife (Any State)
  • Doctoral degree in nursing, midwifery, an appropriate area of science, or a related area from an accredited institution of higher education. (Required for Assistant Professor level)
  • Demonstrated leadership in area of practice. (Required for Senior Instructor and Assistant Professor levels)
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with academic colleagues and students in practice activities. (Required for Senior Instructor and Assistant Professor levels)
  • Skilled in the use of the electronic medical health record
  • Excellent knowledge of and ability to perform clinical teaching
  • Ability to effectively develop and promote practice
  • Strong collaborative nature
  • Willingness and ability to actively participate in health plan contracts
  • Ability to remain credentialed by the health plans and ensure credentialing materials stay current.

Nice To Haves

  • Current, active DEA Licensure
  • Experience working in a high patient volume and/or high-acuity patient setting
  • Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary clinical care teams

Responsibilities

  • Provide full scope care to the gynecologic, antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patient
  • Provide care in the outpatient clinic, OBED, and intrapartum unit
  • Utilize limited obstetric ultrasound skills in the outpatient and inpatient setting
  • Recommended attendance at monthly practice meetings and participate in a minimum of one-practice and/or College of Nursing committee.
  • Educate health care team students (APPs, medical students, residents) and actively participate in student evaluations
  • Participate in practice development, promotion and community outreach.
  • Active participation in health plan contracts.
  • Remain credentialed by the health plans and ensure credentialing materials stay current.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
