About The Position

The Certified Nurse Assistant (C.N.A) plays a crucial role in supporting the nursing team by assisting with the implementation of comprehensive care plans for residents and patients. The C.N.A is responsible for activities related to daily living, including assisting with eating, dressing, personal care, toileting, education, recreation, and transportation, following established policies and procedures within the nursing department. The C.N.A reports directly to the RN/LPN team leader, ensuring that resident and patient care is delivered with respect and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Must hold an active C.N.A License in Maine.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Certified Nurse Assistant.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, demonstrating courteous, diplomatic, and tactful interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents and patients with daily living activities, including feeding, bathing, ambulating, and skin care.
  • Demonstrate effective listening skills to support resident and patient needs.
  • Take initial vital signs and provide weights to nursing staff in a timely manner.
  • Report any changes in vital signs or measurements promptly to the Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
  • Follow Universal Precautions procedures consistently.
  • Monitor and record resident/patient intake and output in accordance with unit standards or physician orders.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding resident/patient issues and support their rights.
  • Foster productive working relationships with healthcare team members.
  • Provide additional care as directed by the RN/LPN.
  • Assist with the orientation of patients, residents, and families to the unit, facility, and available services.
  • Deliver patient and resident care promptly and accurately as directed by the RN/LPN, adhering to the established care plan.
  • Empathize with residents, patients, and their families while remaining objective in challenging situations.
  • Exhibit flexibility and seek help when addressing difficulties, contributing to problem-solving efforts.
  • Demonstrate a passion for working with long-term care residents and skilled rehabilitation patients to ensure exceptional care.
