Certified Nuse Assistant, Nurse Assistant, or Trainee - Night Shift - 900 E
About The Position
This position involves providing basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff. Duties include taking vital signs, assisting with bathing, dressing, and moving patients, and changing linens. The role also involves obtaining information on patient condition and reporting any changes to the nursing staff. The unit specializes in post-operative care for gastrointestinal (GI) and genitourinary (GU) surgical patients, and is recognized as a Center of Excellence for bariatric surgery. The unit has 30 beds and features a combination of private and semi-private rooms. It does not offer telemetry or cardiac monitoring. A $3 shift differential is offered for this night shift position.
Requirements
- 3 months experience as a nursing assistant in an inpatient or long-term care setting, EMT, or Surgical Technologist in the past 3 years OR Completed an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel Program within the past 3 years OR Completed the “fundamentals of nursing” course with clinical in an accredited nursing program or practical nursing education program OR Must have Missouri CNA License OR Must have MO CNA Appendix AND MO CNA license must be obtained within 120 days of hire
- BLS must be obtained within 90 days
- Certified Nurse Assistant/Nurse Assistant
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exhibits valuable time management skills
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills.
- Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment.
- Is available for work on a consistent and timely basis
- Conscientious, thorough, accurate, and reliable when performing and completing job tasks

Responsibilities
- Provide basic patient care under direction of nursing staff.
- Perform duties such as take vitals, bathe, dress, move patients, change linens and other duties as assigned.
- Obtains information on patient condition as requested by the nursing staff, and reports any changes in patient condition.
- Functions within a classroom and clinical learning environment to obtain training as unlicensed assistive personnel.
- While in the clinical learning environment, will provide basic patient care under direction and supervision of clinical educator and nursing staff.
- During clinical rotation, may perform duties such as taking vitals, bathing, dressing, moving patients, changing linens and other duties within their scope of practice as directed.
- While in clinical setting, obtains information on patient condition as requested by the nursing staff or clinical educator and reports any changes in patient condition.
- At the end of the training, a competency assessment will be administered to validate learning.
