About The Position

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Certified Nurse Aides (CNA) and/or Personal Care Assistants (PCA) to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in building meaningful relationships with our clients, providing them with exceptional care, and being a highlight in their day. Your training will equip you with the necessary skills, but we are looking for individuals with strong character traits such as honesty, approachability, excellent communication, decision-making abilities, and a passion for customer focus. This role involves assisting clients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, ambulation, eating, dressing, light housekeeping, and meal preparation. You will also assist with specific tasks taught by a nurse, such as ostomy appliance changes, dressing reinforcement, use of assistive devices, range of motion exercises, simple urine tests, measuring special diets, measuring intake and output, taking vital signs, and applying external catheters or splints.

Requirements

  • High school degree and/or a G.E.D. certificate
  • Six months experience as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) and/or Personal Care Assistant (PCA) in health care (in homes or facilities)
  • Successful completion of a State approved Nurse Aide or Home Health Aide (HHA) and/or Personal Care Assistant (PCA) course
  • Successful completion of a Competency Evaluation that meets the State licensing law for home health agencies
  • Sympathetic attitude toward the care of the sick, and ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job
  • Current CPR Certificate is recommended
  • Meets the requirements for employees providing direct patient care
  • Read, write, speak and understand English as needed for the job
  • Valid driver’s license and use of an insured automobile for work or access to adequate transportation

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the patient with personal hygiene (toileting, bathing, care of mouth, skin and hair)
  • Assisting with ambulation, eating, dressing, and shaving
  • Performing light housekeeping and other household chores
  • Preparing meals
  • Assisting with the change of ostomy appliances
  • Reinforcement of dressings (non-sterile)
  • Assisting with the use of devices for aid in daily living (cane, walker, wheelchair or lift device)
  • Assisting with prescribed range of motion exercises
  • Assisting with self-administered simple urine tests for sugar acetone or albumin
  • Measuring and preparing special diets
  • Measuring intake and output
  • Taking vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations and blood pressure)
  • Application of an external (condom-type) catheter
  • Assisting with application of arm sling, arm splint or leg splint
