Certified Medication Technician
About The Position
PrimeCare Medical, Inc. (PCM), a privately owned, physician-founded, nationally accredited correctional healthcare practice, is recruiting a full-time Certified Medication Technician to work in the medical department at the Washington County Detention Center in Hagerstown, Maryland. The position is 36 hours per week, working two 12-hour shifts and two 8-hour shifts per week. Shift hours are 11 a.m.–7 p.m. or 11 a.m.–11 p.m. The role includes new-reception intake screenings, vital-sign collection, medication passes, and maintaining medication records. The technician also helps prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas and performs administrative and telephone duties while maintaining confidentiality and following universal precautions.
Requirements
- Complete an approved Certified Medication Technician program.
- Hold a Medication Technician Certification valid in the state where the facility is located.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills.
- Pleasant telephone manner.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Working knowledge of office equipment and medical equipment.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to work effectively in a locked facility.
Responsibilities
- Conduct initial intake screenings for new receptions.
- Take vital signs and complete appropriate intake forms.
- Prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas for the facility.
- Perform daily medication passes.
- Maintain medication records.
- Type reports, letters, and memoranda.
- Answer telephone calls and process calls.
- Maintain the filing system and protect the confidentiality of information.
- Follow universal precautions at all times.
- Maintain a pleasant working attitude.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or delegated.
