About The Position

The Certified Medication Aide supports resident care by administering medications accurately and compassionately. The role requires consistency, attention to detail, and a professional, team-oriented attitude. The aide administers prescribed oral, topical (on unbroken skin), and rectal medications according to physician orders and company policy; monitors residents and reports adverse reactions or changes in status; documents medication administration; maintains medication-cart control and a safe environment; protects resident confidentiality; follows infection-control procedures; and immediately reports medication errors to the Charge Nurse.

Requirements

Hold a current Texas Medication Aide certification.
Have experience and competence in medication-administration procedures.
Communicate clearly and demonstrate patience, discipline, and professionalism.
Pay close attention to detail and ensure accurate documentation.

Responsibilities

Administer prescribed oral, topical (on unbroken skin), and rectal medications in accordance with physician orders and company policy.
Monitor residents for adverse medication reactions or changes in status and report them.
Accurately document medication administration in compliance with policies.
Maintain control of the medication cart and ensure a safe, hazard-free environment.
Safeguard the confidentiality of resident information.
Follow infection-control procedures during medication administration.
Immediately report medication errors to the Charge Nurse.
