Certified Medication Aide

About The Position

The Certified Medication Aide performs resident care activities and related services that support residents’ personal needs and comfort. The role administers medications as prescribed by a physician and documents medication administration, effectiveness, and any observed adverse reactions or side effects under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The position also supports resident safety, protects confidential health and community information, follows directions and community procedures, completes assignments accurately and on time, attends assigned in-services, and participates in interdisciplinary and other community meetings as requested.

Requirements

Medication Assistance Certification, where applicable.
Willingness to be available for any or all emergencies regarding the community.
Doctor’s statement verifying freedom from communicable disease.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
One year of experience working as an HHA, CNA, PCA, or RA preferred.
One year of experience working in assisted living or health care preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform resident care activities and related services to support residents’ personal needs and comfort.
Administer medications as prescribed by a physician under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
Document medication administration, effectiveness, and observed adverse reactions or side effects.
Observe regulations protecting personal health information during its collection, use, disclosure, storage, and destruction.
Assure resident safety.
Follow written and oral directions.
Maintain confidentiality of resident and community information.
Assist new employees in following established community policies and procedures.
Complete assignments timely, completely, and accurately.
Attend in-services as assigned or requested.
Participate in interdisciplinary team and other community meetings as assigned or requested.
