About The Position

Aldevra, LLC is seeking a Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) to temporarily support the VA Puget Sound Health Care System (Seattle VAMC). The CMD will be responsible for generating accurate and precise radiation treatment plans and dose calculations in accordance with physician prescriptions and national standards. All work must comply with established policies, procedures, and quality standards set forth by the American College of Radiology (ACR), American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM). This includes adherence to guidelines for radiotherapy planning, patient safety, quality assurance, equipment operation, and continuous quality improvement initiatives. Requirements

  • Must be able to maintain VA Badge.
  • Must be certified in medical dosimetry by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB) with at least two years of continuous work experience within the last three years to ensure experience is current and relevant
  • Two (2) years of experience: Documentation detailing experience in performing QA procedures.
  • One (1) year of experience in a healthcare system that is ACR or APEX certified.
  • One (1) year of experience with Varian Linear Accelerators: TrueBeam with Rapid Arc (or equivalent).
  • One (1) year of experience with Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) including Cone Beam CT, following standards of TG-142.
  • Three (3) year of experience with the Eclipse treatment planning system and ARIA record & verify system, including SRS, SRT, SBRT, and IMRT treatment modalities, following standards of TG-53 and MPPG 5.B.
  • Three (3) year of experience with a GE CT Simulator (or equivalent).
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and telephone manner
  • Excellent and accurate written communication
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems; online calendars and cloud systems; intermediate to advanced skills Microsoft office products required.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out medical dosimetry functions under the certified Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board.
  • Receive technical direction from the VA Radiation Oncologist and/or Contractor’s Medical Physicist.
  • Oversee medical dosimetry functions of the Radiation Oncology Service, functioning as a technical supervisor of medical dosimetry services and quality assurance activities.
  • Perform treatment planning for SRS/SRT, including HyperArc, IMRT, SBRT, 2D/3D planning, and IGRT, in conjunction with the Contractor’s Medical Physicist.
  • Design treatment plans using computer and/or manual computation to deliver a prescribed radiation dose and field placement technique according to the VA Radiation Oncologist's prescription.
  • Consider dose-limiting structures in the design of treatment plans and document dose according to VA Radiation Oncologist's prescription.
  • Assist with treatment simulations and tumor localization on dedicated devices.
  • Perform fusions for computed tomography (CT), MRI, PET-CT when indicated for radiation therapy treatment planning.
  • Plan and oversee the fabrication of compensating filters, custom shields, boluses, wedges, and other beam modifying devices.
  • Plan, oversee, and supervise the production of molds, casts, and other immobilization devices.
  • Assist radiation therapy staff in the implementation of treatment plans.
  • Ensure the correct use of immobilization devices, compensators, wedges, field arrangements, and any treatment variables associated with treatment planning implementation including custom 3D boluses and Decimal cutouts.
  • Perform calculation methods for the delivery of the prescribed dose.
  • Document calculations in patient files and verify the mathematical accuracy of all calculations using a system established by the Contractor’s Medical Physicist.
  • Provide dosimetry and technical support to the Contractor’s Medical Physicist in radiation protection, qualitative and quantitative machine calibration, and quality assurance of radiation therapy equipment.
  • Assist in the application of specific methods of dosimetry, including ion chamber, TLD, or film measurements as directed by the Contractor’s Medical Physicist.
