About The Position

Texas Oncology is seeking a hybrid Medical Dosimetrist to join their San Antonio Radiation Team. This role is part of the largest community oncology provider in the country, with a mission to make high-quality cancer care accessible. The San Antonio region team includes multiple clinics, dosimetrists, physicists, radiation therapists, and radiation oncologists. Travel to different sites within the region may be required. In collaboration with the radiation oncologist and medical physicist, the Medical Dosimetrist will use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to develop, generate, and evaluate treatment plans using computer software and manual calculations. This involves working with prescribed target regions and avoidance dose criteria, and utilizing various patient imaging modalities to identify target structures and critical structures to be avoided. The role also requires adherence to the US Oncology Compliance Program.

Requirements

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in planning VMAT, IMRT, SBRT/SRT, and 3D plans
  • Regularly required to sit and use hands to manipulate a computer keyboard and mouse.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Requires vision and corretamente to normal ranges.

Nice To Haves

  • Credentials as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) preferred
  • Strong experience with Varian LINACs, Eclipse TPS, ARIA, RadCalc, EZFluence, ClearCheck, AutoContour, and MiM Software are a plus
  • Prior work in a Varian linear accelerator environment a plus

Responsibilities

  • Generate radiation therapy treatment plans in a timely manner using computer software and various imaging modalities, demonstrating strong attention to detail.
  • Adapt to ever-changing technology and be open to learning new systems and techniques.
  • Perform routine duties independently of supervision but consult with the Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicist as required.
  • Consult and communicate with the therapists regarding the implementation of the treatment plan including: the correct use of immobilization devices, field arrangement, and other treatment variables.
  • Perform or supervise the design and fabrication of immobilization devices, beam modifying devices (i.e., compensating filters, bolus, molds, custom shields, etc.) and treatment planning aids.
