The Certified Medical Assistant will be responsible for preparing and rooming patients for exams by obtaining vital signs and gathering/documenting/updating pertinent health information. This role will monitor and complete Clinical Integration/Quality Improvement measures, perform laboratory procedures, and assist physicians/advanced practice professionals with procedures. The Medical Assistant will administer routine medications, follow through with necessary procedure or test requests, and refer questions to Registered Nurses and Physicians/APCs per scope of practice guidelines. They will communicate with the healthcare team to ensure smooth clinic flow and effectively communicate accurate and timely information with the patient. The role may also perform basic and advanced clinical support tasks based on specialty and competencies, such as suture/staple removal, laboratory procedures, phlebotomy, EKG, spirometry, Holter monitor application, and prescription refills under clinical supervision. The position requires the ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development principles.
