About The Position

The Medical Assistant (MA) is an integral part of the healthcare team, responsible for gathering, screening, communicating, and acting upon delegated tasks from a provider, registered nurse, or licensed practical nurse within their scope of practice. The MA performs a combination of clerical and direct patient care duties. Clerical responsibilities include greeting patients, answering telephones, scheduling appointments, and updating patients' electronic medical records (EMR). Clinical responsibilities involve rooming patients, taking medical histories, performing and recording vital signs, preparing exam rooms for procedures, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, facilitating patient flow through the office, and assisting the Physician, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant during examinations.

Requirements

  • Must be a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant
  • High School Diploma - OR - GED - OR - Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program
  • BLS Certification
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification awarded through American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the American Medical Technologists (AMT), the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), National Association of Healthcare Professionals (NAHP) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA). Medical Assistant Certification other than those listed requires THMG Leadership Approval.

Responsibilities
