About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) provides patient care under the supervision of a medical provider and supports clinical and administrative functions at MCE OBGYN in Enterprise, Alabama. The role includes assisting with medical procedures, preparing and maintaining exam rooms, managing patient intake, and supporting efficient clinic operations while delivering excellent patient service. The CMA assists providers with clinical procedures, performs patient intake and documentation as directed by licensed personnel or providers, and helps with scheduling, referrals, insurance verification, and other administrative tasks. The position also involves maintaining supplies and equipment, educating patients on health-related topics, and complying with applicable policies and standards. The clinic is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Requirements

0–1 years of experience in a medical practice setting or completion of an externship program.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)-AAMA or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)-NCTT certification required.
Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) required.
Knowledge of medical office procedures and patient care techniques.
Proficiency in medical record systems and basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
Understanding of medical terminology and infection control practices.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to provide excellent patient service.
Time management and organizational abilities in a fast-paced environment.
Critical thinking skills to analyze and resolve clinical and administrative challenges.
Ability to perform care according to age-specific competencies.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for an employer; this position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

Assist providers with clinical procedures, including taking vital signs, wound care, suture removal, injections, phlebotomy, vaccines, urine tests, EKGs, and applying splints or other specialty-specific tasks.
Prepare and clean exam rooms for patient visits and clinical procedures.
Perform patient intake duties, including reporting test results, phone triage, and documenting medical information as directed by licensed personnel or providers.
Review and maintain daily logs and documentation.
Support administrative duties, including pre-registering patients, scheduling appointments, coordinating referrals, verifying insurance eligibility, and managing clinic communications.
Maintain an organized workload and provide prompt, courteous, and efficient service to providers, patients, and visitors.
Monitor and requisition clinic supplies and equipment to maintain appropriate inventory and functionality.
Educate patients on medications, diets, and other health-related topics, answering questions to support understanding.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Comply with all policies and standards.
