About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant supports primary care services in the Pediatrics department at Ascension Medical Group in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The role assists with provider-ordered treatments under the supervision of a provider or registered nurse and performs selected clinical duties. It also includes patient interviewing, vital-sign measurement, chart documentation, preparing examination rooms, clerical work, and ordering and stocking supplies. The position is full-time on the day shift, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Requirements

• BLS Provider credential obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross credentials are accepted.
• Medical Assistant credential obtained within 180 days of hire or job transfer.
• High school diploma equivalency or one year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience. Required professional licensure or certification may be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Nice To Haves

• Prior Certified Medical Assistant experience is preferred.
• Medical Assistant certification and/or registration in good standing through AAMA, AMT, NCCT, or NHA.
• Must be a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant, or currently enrolled in school to obtain CMA/RMA credentials.

Responsibilities

• Assist with treatments ordered by a provider, under the supervision of a provider or registered nurse, and perform selected clinical duties.
• Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information in patient charts.
• Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations.
• Perform basic clerical duties, including answering phones, maintaining records, and filing.
• Order and stock supplies and assist with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
• May document provider encounters, including diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions as indicated by the provider.
• Transcribe patient orders, including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.
