About The Position

Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Certified Medical Assistant/Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team! This role is responsible for assisting physicians with patient care, clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. This includes appointment scheduling, care and chart management, and providing information to patients to help them fully utilize clinic services. The position also involves collecting and processing routine testing, returning results to the doctor, obtaining and processing doctor's orders, and data entry. Excellent customer service is expected when interacting with patients, doctors, and other medical staff. The role requires the ability to work well under pressure and perform CLIA waived moderate testing. For LPNs and RNs, this role provides direct and indirect patient care, communicates effectively with providers and management about patient conditions and diagnostic results, and responds quickly to changes in patient status. Nurses are expected to utilize all training and skills developed through their licensure. Additional responsibilities may include inventory/ordering and cross-training in laboratory rapid assays, reception, and radiographic studies.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Health Sciences program or higher.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Valid CMA certificate/license.
  • RN degree with BLS certification and to obtain both ACLS and PALS certification within 6 months of hire.
  • LPN degree with associated IV therapy certification and drug administration certification within 60 days of hire, along with BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications as above.
  • The LPN may substitute PEARS instead of PALS.
  • CMA course, Phlebotomy course and phlebotomy experience.
  • 6 months required experience.
  • Experience with computers and office equipment, required.
  • The ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Must understand medical terminology.
  • Must be able to accurately calculate drug dosing and drip rates for IV therapy.
  • Must be organized, able to multi-task, and a critical thinker.
  • Can concentrate for long periods of time in order to complete assigned tasks with a better than average attention span in order to listen, read and remember verbal and written instructions.
  • Can understand input from the supervisor and/or manager concerning errors and instructions.
  • Good communication skills, and ability to work well with others.
  • Team player and flexible.
  • Can work well under pressure and meet multiple and competing deadlines.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Can recognize and understand the complexity and reflex-testing of laboratory complexity.
  • Must be able to handle conflict issues with both patients and staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual is a plus.
  • 2-5 yrs clinical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physician with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks.

  • Provide direct and indirect patient care in the clinic setting.
  • Communicate with providers/nurse manager/co-workers about changes in patient’s clinical condition including results of diagnostic evaluation and changes in patient condition or symptomatology.
  • Respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
  • Utilize all training, skills and ability commonly developed through attainment of licensure in their field.
  • May have inventory/ordering responsibilities in addition to clinical responsibilities.
  • Expected to cross train in additional areas of clinic responsibilities including laboratory rapid assays, reception and radiographic studies.
