About The Position

Community Health Center of Central Wyoming (CHCCW) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to support its growing clinical team in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to individuals and families. As part of an integrated health care model, the CMA will work in a supportive, collaborative environment and provide clinical support services to providers. This role involves direct patient care, administrative tasks, and maintaining a safe and efficient clinical environment. The position requires proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and a basic understanding of front office procedures. The CMA may also be asked to work in other areas of the clinic, such as the Call Center or floating to other departments as needed. This position routinely deals with sensitive and confidential information and requires successful completion of substance abuse testing.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency (GED)
  • Completion of Medical Assistant Program Certification with the National Association of Health Professionals upon hire, or within the first (90) days of employment
  • BLS Certification (current, or obtain upon hire)
  • Strong communication and teamworking skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse population
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of medical terms
  • Knowledge of medical clinical protocols and procedures
  • Knowledge of patient evaluation
  • Knowledge of triage methods, concepts, practices, communications and techniques
  • Knowledge of drawing labs (as phlebotomy isn’t always available)
  • Knowledge of procedures and standards for administration of medications, immunizations and patient care
  • Knowledge of patient charts and patient medical histories
  • Knowledge of applicable medical equipment operation such as catheters, oxygen, and autoclaves
  • Knowledge of applicable OSHA health, environment and safety, Federal and State laws, rules and regulations

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of patients for the exam room
  • Observing, interviewing and notating patient symptoms
  • Basic laboratory testing, ECG, and updraft treatments
  • Measurement of vital signs
  • Assisting with procedures
  • Administering medications and immunizations
  • Maintaining quality, safety and/or infection control standards
  • Safely operating various medical equipment
  • Sterilizing supplies and equipment
  • Maintaining and restocking examination and procedure rooms
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) proficiency
  • Basic knowledge of front office procedures such as scheduling appointments
  • Working in other areas of the clinic when deemed appropriate, such as the Call Center or floating to other areas when needed
