About The Position

Texas Health Physicians Group (THPG) is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join the Heart & Vascular Specialists team. This is a full-time position working day shifts. The CMA will deliver patient care utilizing their certified skills, perform general patient care following established standards, and obtain/record vital signs. Responsibilities include obtaining and recording vital signs, potentially drawing blood, performing EKGs, communicating test results, escalating issues, ensuring patient safety and privacy, and assisting in the front office as needed. The role is based at 2505 Scripture Street, Denton, TX 76210, with full-time hours (40 weekly) Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Friday from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. Travel to surrounding clinics is required approximately 25% of the time, with mileage reimbursement provided. The Heart & Vascular Specialists Clinic offers a rewarding, educational environment with opportunities to strengthen skills by working with experienced Providers and Staff. It is a fast-paced, multi-provider clinic that requires the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and the team values strong work ethic, positive attitudes, and collaborative teamwork.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • CMA - Current Medical Assistant Certification (required)
  • Ability to perform EKGs, draw blood and administer injections
  • Basic computer skills using medical management application systems
  • Effectively communicate with staff and patients
  • Thorough knowledge of the meaning and use of medical terminology and abbreviations
  • Demonstrate sound judgement in emergency situations
  • Take appropriate action in urgent circumstances
  • Maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude toward staff and patients
  • Possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS or BCLS (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Certified Medical Assistant Process
  • Performs general patient care by following established standards and procedures.
  • Obtains and records vital signs including, but not limited to: blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, and current medications and presenting problem.
  • May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis as well as perform routine tests such as EKG.
  • Communicates with patient regarding test results and plan of care by phone or mail as directed by physician.
  • Escalates non-routine issues, questions and/or concerns to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s).
  • Provides for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights.
  • May work in the front office as needed, as well as perform other duties as assigned by practice manager, more senior staff, or as requested by healthcare provider(s).
