Requirements

  • Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and basic computer applications.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous medical office, front desk, or clinical experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and scheduling systems preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and check in/check out patients in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls, take messages, and respond to patient inquiries.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
  • Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and eligibility.
  • Collect copays, balances, and process payments accurately.
  • Maintain patient records and ensure all required forms and documentation are completed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment by taking vital signs and documenting medical history.
  • Assist providers during examinations and procedures.
  • Administer medications and injections as directed and within scope of certification.
  • Perform basic laboratory tests, specimen collection, and processing as needed.
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms, ensuring proper stocking of medical supplies.
  • Document patient care and clinical information accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) system (Athena).
  • Provide patient education and instructions as directed by the provider.
  • Follow infection control, safety, and quality assurance procedures.
  • Responsible for relating well to people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds and for having empathy for patients with demonstrated ability to treat them with dignity and respect.
