Summary: Provides professional care through direct lactation assessment, intervention, evaluation, education and follow-up of breastfeeding women affiliated with Danbury Hospital and in the community. The nursing process is utilized in collaboration with the Health care team to implement a plan of care specific to the needs of each breastfeeding family.

Requirements

  • State of CT RN License.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience required.
  • International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant required.
  • NRP, BLS required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's in nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts assessment of breastfeeding dyad in an ongoing & systematic manner, attentive to the physiologic, psychologic, & cognitive status of the patient. 15%
  • Incorporates the nursing process to develop a plan of care that educates & directs the nursing staff & patient in appropriate management to achieve breastfeeding success. 25%
  • Collaborates with the health care team to implement the knowledgeable, skillful, consistent & continuous delivery of a plan of care specific to the breastfeeding patients needs. 15%
  • Prioritizes consultation/intervention/education based on maternal/infant status, learning needs, length of stay, & available resources. 15%
  • Utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to evaluate the effectiveness of LC interventions, plan of care, & patient progression towards expected outcomes. 15%
  • Provides breastfeeding support & education to staff & patients within the Danbury Hospital & in the community. 15%
  • Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
