This role is responsible for adhering to safety standards, transporting and handling soiled and sterile items, and identifying, responding to, and reporting malfunctions and/or alarms. The specialist performs efficacy and quality testing for all processes and equipment, and operates and troubleshoots equipment safely. Key duties include identifying and performing manual and/or mechanical cleaning for a wide range of instrumentation according to manufacturer instructions, performing flexible scope processing with High Level Disinfection (HLD), and determining and preparing necessary supplies for the assembly process. The specialist will also inspect, assemble, and package instrumentation, ensuring cleanliness and functionality, and adhering to packaging and labeling standards. Knowledge of weight limits for sets and equipment, and proper handling of vendor-owned items (loaner, consignment) is required. Additionally, the role involves determining sterilization equipment functionality, operation, monitoring, and maintenance, with verification and documentation of the sterilization process. This includes performing high temperature (steam) and low temperature (gas plasma, ethylene oxide, chemical) sterilization.
