About The Position

Parrish & Heimbecker (P&H) is seeking a motivated, forward-thinking, and dedicated Certified Electrician for its Milling division in Halifax, NS. P&H Milling is the largest Canadian-owned milling company, producing a variety of flour and cereal products from its mills across Canada. The company supplies flour to customers throughout Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Iceland, and Pacific Rim countries.

Requirements

  • Certified Journeyman Electrician.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an Electrician, preferably in an industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge and experience with Programmable Logic Control (PLC), VFD’s and troubleshooting, pneumatics, mechanical, hydraulics, rotating equipment, and electric systems.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Self-directed, able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work on a rotating schedule for after-hours calls and weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Red Seal Certificate is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring Health & Safety programs, policies and procedures are being followed.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance tasks and work orders throughout the plant, ensuring they are completed in a timely manner and in compliance with safety rules and standards.
  • Conduct repair, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment and systems such as Electrical, Mechanical, Electromechanical, Pneumatic, Hydraulic and PLC.
  • Perform weekly scheduled maintenance on planned shutdown in order to achieve plant and equipment efficiency as well as building maintenance, when required.
  • Conduct routine plant inspections, identify equipment malfunction, and provide observations and recommend corrective actions to Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Perform and/or assist in the testing and calibration of machines and equipment.
  • Abide by routine maintenance procedure and effectively utilize the preventative maintenance software in conducting service routines.
  • Monitor spare parts inventory level and provide the Maintenance Supervisor with this information as reference for procurement plan.
  • Comply with high standards for product quality, housekeeping, and sanitation in accordance with GMP, Food Safety and Brand Reputation Compliance Global Standards (BRCGS) procedures.
  • Maintain documents and records in accordance with all relevant Quality and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Attend safety meetings, training and certifications as required.
