About The Position

The Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) plays a vital role in supporting providers and delivering high-quality patient care in a rheumatology clinic. This position is responsible for assisting physicians and advanced practice providers with patient examinations, procedures, treatments, patient education, and administrative tasks. The CCMA serves as a liaison between patients and the healthcare team, ensuring a positive patient experience while promoting efficient clinic operations.

Requirements

  • CCMA or RMA Certification
  • Able to pass a background check

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Rheumatology, Internal Medicine, Family Practice, or Specialty Care.
  • Experience with biologic therapies, injections, infusion services and prior authorizations
  • BLS/CPR Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining and documenting vital signs, medical histories, medication lists, allergies, and chief complaints.
  • Room patients efficiently and ensure accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures.
  • Administer medications, injections, and immunizations as directed and within scope of practice.
  • Monitor patients receiving injections and report adverse reactions promptly.
  • Educate patients on medications, treatment plans, disease processes, and follow-up care instructions.
  • Coordinate laboratory testing, imaging studies, and specialty referrals.
  • Support biologic and injectable medication programs, including patient education and monitoring.
  • Assist with infusion scheduling and coordination, as applicable.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation and compliance with rheumatology treatment protocols.
  • Manage patient phone calls, messages, prescription refill requests, and provider communications.
  • Prioritize and respond to patient concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  • Assist with prior authorizations for medications, imaging studies, and specialty treatments.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments, laboratory visits, and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient records in accordance with clinic policies and HIPAA regulations.
  • Maintain knowledge of current rheumatology practices, medications, and treatment guidelines.
