About The Position

Chapters Health System is seeking a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) to join their team. This role is mission-driven, focusing on providing outstanding patient care and customer service. The CCLS will support children and their families by implementing therapeutic activities and interventions for pediatric hospice patients, families of adult hospice patients, and community bereaved children. They will work as part of an interdisciplinary team, collaborating with RN case managers, social workers, chaplains, bereavement counselors, and volunteers to develop age-appropriate materials, offer guidance on pediatric medical resources, and provide anticipatory bereavement support through legacy interventions. The role also includes providing support at children’s bereavement events like Camp Braveheart and Celebration of Life.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid Drivers' License, current auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • Professional licensure as required by the State where care is being provided.
  • Clear level 2 background check.
  • Excellent communication; via phone, email, and in person.
  • Attention to detail & ability to handle confidential information following HIPPA guidelines.
  • Demonstrate multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • Must be flexible to work in other locations if needed.
  • Demonstrate a knowledge, understanding and compliance with the standards for counselors in clinical practice.

Nice To Haves

  • If hired prior to 5/26/2024, bachelor's degree in counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling and therapy for Hospice patients, family members and community individuals who have suffered the loss of a significant person through grief.
  • Demonstrate contact of all clients within established time frames and provide appropriate documentation.
  • Document at least two additional attempts to reach an assigned client before closing the case.
  • Demonstrate a willingness and ability to manage tasks and case loads assigned, from any departmental program, in an effective, productive and timely manner, meeting the standards that reflect expected productivity.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to provide counseling services such as on call crisis intervention, individual and group, on a flexible schedule as needed, including some week nights, weekends and at camp.
  • Document all client contacts and care plans accurately according to department and organization policy in a timely manner.
  • Establish and maintain all legally required files according to state, law, federal law and organization policy.
  • Communicate, collaborate and consult with other departmental counselors, members of the Interdisciplinary Team, other organization staff and external customers with integrity and professionalism to ensure the best possible services are given to all customers internal and external.
  • Attend and participate in department, staff and other meetings as requested by the organization and the Director.
  • Make recommendations for the improvement of programs and activities within the department.
  • Represent the company in a positive and professional manner at all times with others, e.g., co-workers, management, vendors, and customers.
  • Consistently represents Chapters Health System with integrity and professionalism.
  • Complete all job responsibilities in a thorough and complete manner, utilizing good judgment in all aspects of the job.
  • Carry out duties and responsibilities in a manner that exemplifies excellent customer service.

Benefits

  • Pay Range: $26.56 - $41.50
