About The Position

Select Physical Therapy is seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer to provide care for professional athletes under its service agreement with the National Basketball Association. The position supports care for NBA referees during the 2026/2027 season in Washington, DC. The physical work location is Capital One Arena, 601 F St NW, Washington, DC 20004. Employment is per diem/PRN, with hours varying as needed and compensation of $55 per hour for three hours per coverage date.

The Certified Athletic Trainer will provide on-site preventative and maintenance care, administer athletic training techniques before and during games and at home or while traveling, assess responses to care within the specified plan, document in the EMR, and communicate with referees, the NBA, and Select support staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree.
• National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATA-BOC) certification.
• CPR certification.
• Applicable state license where required.
• Three years of athletic trainer experience.

Responsibilities

• Implement and provide an on-site preventative and maintenance care program for NBA referees.
• Determine the need for and administer appropriate athletic training techniques before and during games and at home or while traveling to decrease injury risk; techniques may include stretching, taping, wrapping, bracing, hydration, and minor wound care.
• Determine the effectiveness of athletic training and rehabilitation techniques and record changes based on athlete response within the limits of the specified plan of care.
• Document care in the EMR program.
• Communicate effectively with referees, the NBA, and Select support staff about care.
