About The Position
SSM Health Physical Therapy is seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer to provide care for athletes at contracted schools in the Metro St. Louis area. The trainer will coordinate access to additional health care for athletes and provide athletic training and rehabilitation support. This is a PRN position, with coverage needs paired with the trainer’s availability to create a schedule.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree.
- National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATA-BOC) certification.
- CPR certification.
- Applicable state license where required.

Responsibilities
- Design and implement therapeutic programs to rehabilitate injured athletes.
- Determine the need for and administer appropriate athletic training techniques before and during games and practices to reduce injury risk. Techniques may include taping, wrapping, bracing, hydration guidance, and minor wound care.
- Assess the effectiveness of athletic training and rehabilitation techniques and document changes in response to the athlete, within the limits of the specified plan of care.
- Manage emergency incidents and coordinate EMS and acute-care procedures, including basic life support, to reduce the impact of an injury on an athlete’s function.
- Seek outreach opportunities and participate in events, such as races and club-team activities, to promote the company.
