About The Position

Advocate Health is seeking a Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (AA) to join their anesthesia team at Mayfair in southeastern Wisconsin. This position offers an opportunity to practice within a collaborative anesthesia care team while supporting high-quality patient care across a variety of surgical specialties. The role involves participating in the delivery of anesthesia care under the medical direction of an anesthesiologist within the Anesthesia Care Team (ACT) model. Responsibilities include performing pre-anesthesia patient evaluations, assisting in developing anesthesia care plans, monitoring patients, managing patient parameters, documenting care, and collaborating with the healthcare team.

Requirements

  • Anesthesiologist Assistant license issued by the state of Wisconsin
  • Anesthesiologist Assistant (AA-C) certification issued by the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA) needs to be obtained within 18 months
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required, or
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)/American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
  • Master's Degree in Anesthesia
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as an effective member of a health care team.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high stress environment while managing multiple demands.
  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to effectively collaborate with and establish/build relationships with physicians and other staff.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Intermediate computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the delivery of anesthesia care under the medical direction of an anesthesiologist within the Anesthesia Care Team (ACT) model.
  • Perform pre-anesthesia patient evaluations and assessments.
  • Assist in developing and implementing anesthesia care plans.
  • Monitor patients throughout surgical and procedural interventions.
  • Manage airway, hemodynamic, and physiologic parameters throughout the perioperative period.
  • Document patient care in accordance with organizational, state, and federal requirements.
  • Collaborate with anesthesiologists, nurses, surgeons, and procedural teams to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
