About The Position

The Certification Engineer will lead Part 25 and Part 23 STC Programs for the installation of airborne equipment onto aircraft, primarily focused on Avionica Products. They will initiate and execute STC programs with the FAA or ODA, and coordinate with the various stakeholders involved, such as the operator. They will draft and generate certification documentation, such as Project Specific Certification Plans or System Safety Assessments. They will support certification compliance activities at the Avionica facility and the aircraft, including parts and installation conformity inspections and FAA witnessed ground functional and EMI testing. Each candidate will be required to demonstrate a commitment to process/policy compliance and a willingness to promote continuous improvement initiatives. A successful candidate must be able to work with a significant amount of independence, take initiative in proposing ideas, soliciting input, optimizing solutions while taking minimal direction from higher level management and adapting to a fluid priority landscape. Further, a qualifying candidate should have familiarity with avionics integration design, STC acquisition, maintenance and navigating the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and foreign Civil Aviation Authorities (CAA) regulatory environments.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Avionics Integration and/or STC certification.
  • Experience in running Part 25 and Part 23 STC Programs for Avionics Installations.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a team-oriented and collaborative environment
  • Working knowledge of FAA & Foreign CAA coordination and certification compliance (i.e. STC acquisition)
  • CAD proficiency (i.e. AutoCAD)
  • Strong communication skills,
  • Able to travel and provide on-site aircraft installation support.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Phase Development processes to AS9100 compliance, a plus
  • FAA Certifications including Pilot Certificate a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Part 25 and Part 23 Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) programs for the installation of airborne equipment such as Avionica’s Products.
  • Generate Certification Documentation, such as Project Specific Certification Plans, Compliance Checklists, and Conformity Inspections Plans.
  • Coordinate and support Parts and Installation Conformity Inspections.
  • Coordinate and support FAA witnessed Ground Functional and EMI Test Plans.
  • Coordinate with a team of engineers from varying technical backgrounds and levels of expertise, FAA (ACO, AEG, TSB, Flight Test Group, Acoustical and MIDO) and foreign CAAs to deliver and maintain high quality standards.
  • Maintain project schedules.
  • Provide solutions, products, or services based on research findings, interpretation, and analysis.
  • Generation of product design and certification documentation including compliance with RTCA/DO-178, DO-254, DO-160 and other Civil Aviation Airworthiness and Industry requirements.
