About The Position

Holman is looking for a Manager to join their Accounting Department in Vancouver, WA! This role involves leading an assigned Centralized Accounting operating tower, focusing on process design, service levels, policy execution, capacity planning, month-end readiness, and operational performance. The Manager will lead through a formal supervisory structure, setting expectations, coaching, and ensuring accountability. A key aspect of the role is developing and maintaining a sustainable leadership and career ladder within the assigned tower. The position requires ensuring accurate and timely accounting transactions in alignment with company policies, internal controls, and applicable accounting standards. The Manager will own the operating rhythm for assigned functions, including service levels, throughput measures, quality indicators, backlog tracking, close readiness, and escalation routines. They will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and resolving operational, technical, organizational, and control-related issues. Strengthening the control environment through appropriate segregation of duties, independent review, documented procedures, and timely remediation of control gaps is crucial. The role involves partnering with the Director - Centralized Accounting and peer managers to align priorities, staffing, service delivery, and transformation efforts. Collaboration with various business partners, field leadership, dealership accounting leaders, Finance, Internal Audit, Human Resources, Technology, and other stakeholders is expected to ensure accounting operations support broader business needs. Leading continuous improvement efforts, including standardization of procedures, improvement of close-related processes, reduction of rework, management of aged items, and identification of automation opportunities, is a core responsibility. The Manager will partner with process, systems, and project resources to support dashboards, operating metrics, SOP consolidation, checklist standardization, system enhancements, and automation initiatives. Evaluating workload, staffing, and capacity needs and making recommendations for staffing and prioritization is also part of the role. Supporting the implementation of new job profiles, career laddering, role clarity, and performance expectations within Centralized Accounting is required. The Manager will recruit, develop, retain, and performance-manage talent, with an emphasis on building leadership capability and sustainable bench strength. Communicating performance, risks, resource needs, control gaps, and operational priorities to senior leadership in a clear and timely manner is essential. Managing assigned projects, initiatives, and transformation efforts through execution, ensuring alignment with scope, timing, expected outcomes, and organizational priorities, is also a key responsibility. Finally, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, accuracy, service, and continuous improvement, and performing all other duties and special projects as assigned, are expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field strongly preferred but not required.
  • 5 to 7+ years of progressive accounting, finance, or dealership accounting operations experience.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience preferred, including experience leading through supervisors, team leads, or other subordinate leaders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and related collaboration tools.
  • Experience managing accounting operations with measurable service levels, close deadlines, reconciliations, transaction processing, control requirements, and cross-functional business partners.
  • Demonstrated experience improving processes, implementing controls, developing talent, and managing operational change.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional education, certifications, or other relevant distinctions preferred.
  • Experience with dealership accounting systems, accounting software, workflow tools, reporting tools, and automation or process improvement tools preferred.
  • Automotive retail or dealership accounting experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Director - Centralized Accounting and peer managers to align priorities, staffing, service delivery, and transformation efforts across Centralized Accounting.
