Requirements

  • One (1) year relevant experience required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Reliable and punctual attendance is essential; expected to be at job as scheduled each scheduled day.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification from Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution; or Internal Association of Healthcare Central Services Material Management preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receive unused surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment for operating rooms and other areas of the facility.
  • Communicate necessary information to others as appropriate.
  • Disassemble, inspect (to set aside any rejects), clean, reassemble, and sort contaminated supplies and equipment
  • Load, monitor, operate, and maintain different kinds of cleaning and sterilization equipment.
  • Decontaminate and sterilize instruments, medical supplies and equipment.
  • Organize and assemble instrument trays required for specific surgical cases (for example, total knee replacement, sinus surgery, or gallbladder surgery) and fill special requests as needed.
  • Maintain records of all decontaminations and sterilization following organizational policies and procedures.
  • Restock, label, and maintain inventory; submit requisitions
  • Perform environmental maintenance duties and assist in maintaining inventory levels in sterile processing, the operating room, and in equipment storage areas.
  • Verify equipment functions properly, requisition for equipment maintenance, repair or replacement; and remove defective equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining established departmental policies and procedures, objectives; and quality improvement, safety, and environmental and infection control standards.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.
