Central Sterile Processing Technician 2-Weekend Nights-Vanderbilt Wilson County-$5000 Sign on Bonus
About The Position
The Central Processing Technician decontaminates, cleans, packages, and sterilizes instruments, equipment, and other supplies used in the hospital, and maintains appropriate documentation. The role supports patient safety and infection control by following established practices and policies. The position is based at Vanderbilt Wilson County and works Saturday through Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. It includes a $5,000 sign-on bonus. The technician performs equipment maintenance, environmental sterility and safety, surgical equipment, and inventory control duties at an intermediate level. The role also works collaboratively, provides guidance to entry-level coworkers, delivers compassionate service, maintains quality and safety standards, manages resources responsibly, and adapts to changes and new technology.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of relevant work experience.
- Certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician through the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association, or Certified Sterile Processing Technician through The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc.
Responsibilities
- Decontaminate and clean instruments for the operating room.
- Assemble instrument sets for procedures.
- Sterilize instruments.
- Follow practices and policies that ensure patient safety and comply with infection control standards.
- Maintain appropriate documentation.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on equipment and resolve equipment problems.
- Apply environmental sterility and safety practices, and provide technical instruction and guidance to others.
- Manage inventory and provide instruction and leadership to improve others’ performance.
- Check work quality and fulfill safety and regulatory requirements.
- Complete assigned activities responsibly and use accurate information to achieve timely, error-free results.
- Adapt to operational changes and use appropriate tools and procedures.
