Central Maintenance Superintendent
About The Position
The Central Maintenance Superintendent plans and directs a comprehensive building and grounds program across multiple Department of Juvenile Justice locations. The position oversees the Bon Air JCC complex in Chesterfield, which includes a correctional center serving approximately 220 residents and multiple buildings used by facility and Central Office staff. It also coordinates grounds management, security presence, inspections, and physical plant maintenance at the decommissioned Natural Bridge and Beaumont JCCs. The superintendent leads and directs a diverse group of Trades Technicians and Managers, and plans, organizes, and coordinates a large physical plant and maintenance program. The role includes preparing, administering, and monitoring operating budgets for comprehensive buildings and grounds activities. Considerable knowledge of building construction is required.
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of the administration of a large, diverse physical plant, maintenance, and grounds program.
- Knowledge of building construction and trades.
- Ability to coordinate maintenance and operations programs.
- Ability to lead and direct a diverse group of trades technicians and supervisors.
- Excellent communication skills.
- A valid driver's license is required to operate a state-owned or leased vehicle.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of a major trade apprenticeship.
- Journeyman or Masters Card in one of the trades.
- Considerable experience in administration of physical plant operations and budget preparations.
