About The Position

Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Centering Pregnancy Coordinator (RN) for our Maternal Care Center who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. This role involves leading and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to achieve the goals of the Centering Healthcare Institute for Centering Pregnancy. The coordinator will manage all aspects of the program, including recruitment, enrollment, scheduling, and supplies. They will conduct participant orientations, provide education on the Centering Pregnancy model, and facilitate group discussions on various health and family topics. The position also includes developing curriculum, promoting patient self-care, participating in program evaluation, and maintaining communication with participants. The coordinator will collect and report data, collaborate with medical staff, and engage with the team to communicate changes. Additionally, they will design and develop in-service trainings, respond to inquiries, lead quality improvement projects, schedule guest speakers, and support Maternal Care Center staff and team members. The role also involves updating promotional materials and providing education on nutrition, childbirth, and lactation.

Requirements

  • BSN, Current MD licensure for Nursing
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in an Obstetric setting required.
  • Experience and knowledge of prenatal, postpartum and newborn care.
  • Experience with patient education
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • BLS via AHA
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office suite
  • Commitment to health equity, cultural humility and patient-centered care.

Nice To Haves

  • Outpatient clinic experience preferred
  • Experience with group facilitation preferred
  • CHI Certified Centering Facilitator within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and collaborates with the Maternal Care Center’s interdisciplinary team towards achieving the goals of the Centering Healthcare Institute for Centering Pregnancy
  • Coordinate all aspects of the Centering Pregnancy Program including recruitment, enrollment, scheduling, dates, set up and supplies.
  • Conducts participant orientation and provide education regarding the Centering Pregnancy model of care. Sends welcome letter, general information and reminders with patients.
  • Facilitates core team meetings. Leads the groups in discussion and interactive activities on topics including attachment, safe sleep, breastfeeding, nutrition, interconnection health, mindfulness and family dynamics. Manage rosters and maintain attendance records.
  • Develops and implements curriculum for Centering sessions including pregnancy, labor and delivery, recovery, newborn care, breast feeding and health promotion.
  • Promotes patient self-care and self-management practices.
  • Actively participates in ongoing program evaluation.
  • Maintains regular communication with centering participants
  • Collects and reports annual data to meet CHI requirements
  • Collaborates with Medical Director and Medical staff to ensure program requirements are met.
  • Continuously engages concerted action with team to communicate any changes to program content or schedules.
  • Designs and develops annual in-service trainings with Maternal CareCenter team.
  • Responds to all inquiries and concerns about the Centering Pregnancy groups. Reaches out to patients who missing centering sessions to assist with barriers to participation.
  • Leads and participates in Quality Improvement projects for the Maternal Care Center ensuring integration of centering activities into these projects.
  • Responsible for scheduling Centering Pregnancy guest speakers(Lactation and Pediatrics).
  • Work with the Centering Health Institutes (CHI) site consultant on challenges
  • Supports Maternal Care Center staff.
  • Develops and updates all promotional materials for public access to information about Centering Pregnancy and the Maternal Care Center
  • Provides education to patients including nutrition, childbirth, complications of pregnancy, and lactation.
  • Supports the competency and clinical development of other clinic team members.
  • Maintenance of supplies including patient notebooks and healthy snacks.
  • Initiates communication with OB providers to promote new and existing groups
