Center Support Specialist
About The Position
The Center Support Specialist provides operational, administrative, and educational leadership for Head Start centers in the assigned regions of Fallon, Yerington, and Winnemucca. The role manages center operations and supports high-quality, culturally relevant services that promote children’s holistic growth and align with Centro’s policies and Head Start Performance Standards. The position oversees staff and educational programming, supports family and community engagement, and helps ensure compliance with applicable standards. It also contributes to budget management, grant preparation, data collection, and reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Administration, Management, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Must obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
Nice To Haves
- Supervisory experience in early childhood education or social work is preferred.
- Bilingual Spanish/English skills are preferred.
- A CDL is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily center operations and ensure compliance with policies and laws.
- Hire, train, and lead staff; maintain personnel records; and monitor service quality.
- Mentor staff, conduct meetings, and lead staff training.
- Collaborate with Policy Council representatives and engage parents in children’s education.
- Represent the center in the community and foster partnerships that benefit families.
- Assist with budget management, grant preparation, and data collection.
- Oversee health and safety protocols and ensure the center is clean, organized, and compliant with CACFP requirements for nutritious meals.
- Oversee educational programming to ensure it is developmentally appropriate and aligned with the CDLFU School Readiness Plan.
- Train and support teachers in implementing assessments and individualized learning plans.
- Ensure adherence to Head Start standards for home visits, parent conferences, and recordkeeping.
- Prepare reports as needed.
