About The Position

Grifols is seeking a Center Medical Specialist for a plasma donation center. The role involves assessing donor suitability through physical examinations and medical-history reviews, supporting donor well-being and customer satisfaction, managing donor injuries and adverse events, educating donors, assisting with employee training, and administering the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program. Work is performed in a plasma center and involves exposure to biological fluids and infectious organisms, electrical office and laboratory equipment, and temperatures below 32°F while working with plasma freezers. Protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold-weather gear are required for relevant tasks.

Requirements

Be educated and currently certified or licensed in the state of employment, in accordance with state requirements, as an EMT-Basic, EMT-Advanced, Paramedic, Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN).
Current CPR certification is required.
Bilingual in Spanish.
Ability to communicate and understand information presented through spoken words and sentences, and to relate sensitive information to diverse groups.
Ability to work independently and follow oral or written instructions.

Responsibilities

Perform physical examinations and establish medical histories to determine donor suitability.
Build rapport with donors to support overall customer satisfaction.
Ensure donor and staff confidentiality.
Inform donors about potential hazards.
Provide donor education regarding general health and counsel donors about unacceptable test results.
Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events.
Evaluate histories of illness or medication use to ensure continued donor suitability.
Assist with employee training.
Administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program.
