About The Position

Manatee Lagoon – An FPL Eco-Discovery Center is seeking Manatee Masters to serve as ambassadors and experts on manatees, Lake Worth Lagoon, and the center’s conservation work. The role provides opportunities to develop scientific communication, presentation, and public-speaking skills while supporting environmental conservation. Manatee Masters receive comprehensive training on manatees, Lake Worth Lagoon, and the center’s exhibits to prepare them to deliver accurate information to visitors.

The center is open six days a week from April 1 through November 14 and seven days a week from November 15 through March 31. Applicants must be available at least one weekday and one weekend day per week; three or more days per week are preferred. Manatee Lagoon shirts are provided, and employees are expected to maintain a neat, professional appearance.

Requirements

• Ability to teach or present educational content in person and virtually.
• Strong communication skills.
• Flexible, proactive, enthusiastic, and friendly approach.
• Availability at least one weekday and one weekend day per week.
• Neat and professional appearance.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

• Greet and educate guests through scheduled and impromptu tours.
• Lead programming, including field trips and summer camps.
• Assist with planning, implementing, and evaluating environmental education programs and community events.
• Collaborate with the team to develop and manage special projects that enhance visitor experiences and support the center’s educational objectives.
• Help create educational materials for visitors, including lessons, flyers, and digital content.
• Assist with crowd control and ensure safety guidelines are followed.
• Assist with opening and closing the center.
• Monitor and record inventory of supplies and materials.
• Document visitor interactions and noteworthy observations.
• Perform other job-related duties and support center tasks and projects as needed.
