About The Position

The Cemetery Groundskeeper is responsible for caring for, maintaining, and repairing cemetery property, while helping ensure the safety and security of employees and visitors. The role requires a reliable, detail-oriented person who provides a high level of customer service. Duties include landscape maintenance, equipment upkeep, funeral-service functions, safe machinery operation, installing cemetery vaults and memorials, general maintenance, and snow removal when applicable. The position also requires compassion, customer focus, and adherence to ethical values.

Requirements

• High school equivalency.
• At least 2 years of experience in maintenance or a related field.
• Ability to operate maintenance equipment and machinery.
• Ability to read and execute memos and directives from a supervisor or management.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks with interruptions.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Availability to work some holidays, evenings, and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform landscape maintenance, including weed-whacking and lawn mowing.
• Maintain equipment.
• Perform functions related to funeral services.
• Operate machinery safely and appropriately.
• Install or assist in installing cemetery vaults.
• Install headstones or memorials as needed.
• Handle day-to-day general maintenance duties.
• Remove snow when applicable.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Grounds Superintendent.
