About The Position

Mortenson is currently seeking a Cement Mason I that will be responsible for smoothing and finishing surfaces of poured concrete floors, walls, sidewalks, or curbs to specified textures, using appropriate tools (i.e., hand or power tools, floats, trowels, screeds).

Requirements

• Minimum of four (4) years of related experience
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Knowledge of equipment and their uses
• Basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, division, & multiplication)
• Strong teamwork orientation, positive attitude, professional customer service skills, detail orientation, active listening skills, and effective communication including openness to diverse input and feedback
• Must be currently legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status, 0-1, TN, CPT, OPT, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Spread concrete to specified depth and workable consistency
• Level, smooth, and shape surfaces of freshly poured concrete
• Finish concrete surfaces using power trowel, or wet and rub concrete with abrasive stone to create finish
• Remove rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces using power grinder or chisel and hammer
• Patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound
• Mold expansion joints and edges
• Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• All other duties as assigned
