About The Position

The Cement Mason/Concrete Finisher II is committed to supporting Louisiana Bridge Builders by placing, finishing, repairing concrete surfaces, and curing concrete surfaces to include sidewalks and curbs, to achieve specified textures and finishes while ensuring quality, durability, and safety standards are met. This position is based in Lake Charles, LA.

Requirements

  • Effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner through written and verbal communications in all interfaces with customers/public, fellow employees, vendors, etc.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions.
  • Experience placing and finishing bridge decks working around/with Bidwell roller pavers and work bridges asset.
  • Ability to work as a team member and exert initiative to work independently to reach a goal.
  • Ability to embrace change in the workplace while encouraging others to seek innovative approaches.
  • Ability to function effectively as a team player and collaborator.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule, additional and/or different hours, including but not limited to nights, weekends, and/or holidays, as needed, to best serve the business operations.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and layout tools safe and efficiently.
  • Experience working at heights using finishing buggies and/or manlifts.
  • At least three (3)+ years of concrete finisher or similar construction experience.

Responsibilities

  • Set forms, screeds and ensure correct alignment, elevation, and grade
  • Mix, pour, spread, level, and smooth concrete using hand tools and power tools
  • Finish concrete surfaces using trowels, floats, screeds, and edgers
  • Apply surface treatments, sealers, and curing compounds
  • Cut expansion joints using hand tools or power saws
  • Create decorative finishes (e.g., broom, exposed aggregate, stamped concrete) when required
  • Monitor curing process to ensure proper strength and durability
  • Repair, patch, and resurface existing concrete structures including use of concrete grinders, demo hammers, mix and pour repair mortars and dry rub finishing tools.
  • Read and interpret repair procedures, and specifications as it relates to concrete placing and repair
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in a safe and clean condition
  • Performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
