About The Position

The Cement Control Room Leader is a working lead position at GCC’s cement manufacturing plant in Tijeras, New Mexico. The role coordinates employees monitoring the control panel and making necessary adjustments to kiln, raw and finish grinding, and material handling systems. It supports the Production Manager across operations and requires taking appropriate action during abnormal and emergency conditions. Safety is a prime consideration; employees must wear proper protective equipment and follow applicable safety procedures wherever duties are performed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two to three years of experience as a Control Room Leader in the cement industry.
• Ability to run the board if a Control Room Operator is absent.
• Willingness to work shifts.
• Wear proper protective equipment and follow safety procedures.
• Ability to take appropriate action under abnormal and emergency conditions.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the activities of workers monitoring the control panel and adjusting kiln, grinding, and material handling systems.
• Run the control board when a Control Room Operator is absent.
• Maintain continuous surveillance of kiln and mill processes during the assigned shift.
• Maintain liaison with quality control to help ensure uniform processing.
• Conduct departmental safety inspections and maintain good housekeeping.
• Conduct regular Continuous Improvement and Safety Meetings with departmental employees.
• Keep accurate, neat, and timely records of equipment and processes as directed.
• Perform maintenance and minor repairs within capabilities to maintain continuous operation, and assist in the field as needed.
• Determine when service department assistance is needed and request appropriate personnel through the Team Leader.
• Provide on-the-job training to team members.
• Perform cleanup and housekeeping functions as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
