About The Position

The Cellular Therapy Technician prepares hematopoietic stem cell components for transplantation or infusion in accordance with regulatory standards. The role performs routine and specialized processing, cryopreservation, and infusion preparation of harvested bone marrow, peripheral blood stem cells, and umbilical cord blood. The technician helps maintain the Cellular Therapy Laboratory’s compliance with applicable accreditation, regulatory, and industry standards; supports the Medical Director in evaluating procedures and instrumentation; and assists with research protocols and data presentation.

Requirements

• Two years of experience in hematology, blood bank, flow cytometry, hematopoietic cell processing, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

• A baccalaureate degree in chemistry, biology, or medical technology is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process, cryopreserve, and prepare harvested bone marrow, peripheral blood stem cells, and umbilical cord blood for infusion or transplantation.
• Help ensure the Cellular Therapy Laboratory complies with standards and regulations set by CAP, FDA, CLIA, JCAHO, NCCLS, AABB, and FACT.
• Assist the Medical Director in evaluating new processing and technical procedures and new instrumentation, and in modifying, re-standardizing, or revising existing procedures.
• Assist in developing research protocols and compile and present data to the Medical Director.
